The MSC Tuition & Training Centre
at the 3rd floor of Central Park Commercial Centre (3rd Mile Rock Road)
which I have attended is special and excellent for the Mandarin Chinese language course.
It gives me the opportunity to learn, converse, write, read and especially the
"Hanyu Pinyin" (romanisation) to improve my pronunciation.
(In my school days, my ambition was also to study Chinese language.
This had actually been hindered because during the Rajah Brooke time,
Chinese language was not an important subject and furthermore the Chinese language
was not essential in the commercial circle.)
Gao Laoshi is a conscientious teacher. He really spend his time with the student
to improve their Mandarin Chinese language. He explains the meanings of words,
style of writing, the formation of words (from strokes, dashes, dots, etc).
As for me, I am very pleased with his method of teaching and also the explanations
of simplified ("jian3 ti3") and traditional ("fan2 ti3") characters (traditional
version also known as the "complicated characters" or "complex form").
Before I enrolled with the
MSC Tuition & Training Centre,
I practically do not know any Mandarin Chinese language except writing my own
Chinese name. Now I am in my third year in learning the Mandarin Chinese language,
and I have been through the "Basic", "Intermediate", "Advanced" and now the
"Continuous Learning" Mandarin courses. I have definitely acquired much
Mandarin Chinese language. As the years are catching on with me
(now I'm 84 years old),
I have to admit that I am slower in everything in comparisons to young people.
But I am determined to keep learning and enjoying the
beautiful Mandarin Chinese language,
thanks to Gao Laoshi.

[* Mr. Chin holds the record for being the "Oldest Student"
we have ever taught in Kuching Sarawak, East Malaysia. As of the year 2006,
Mr. Chin is already 84 years old.
Despite his advanced age, Mr. Chin is one of our most enthusiastic and hardworking
"student". His deep passion and determination to learn and master the beautiful
Mandarin Chinese language, has greatly touched our heart and inspired us.
For the last 3 years (since 2003), whenever Mr. Chin is in Kuching
(and not somewhere in other parts of the world), rain or shine he will come
for his classes without fail. In fact, we strongly believe that if the 3rd Mile
area is flooded, Mr. Chin would still come in a boat!!!
Mr. Chin has steadily and successfully progressed from one level to another:
the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Mandarin Chinese language courses. He is now
in the Continuous Learning class and doing great.]
